Background

On occasion, staff will request access to an API that requires approval. More often than not, they will have submitted an Access Request form along with the checking the request access box on the API. Most Staff are told about the business workflow through word of mouth before they setup an application; however sometimes that are unaware of the approval workflow.

In these situations, it's best to send back an email explaining that there is a process in place for requesting access to APIs that require approval. Below is a sample email.

API Developer Portal - <application name> application

Hello <First Last>,

Thank you for your interest in the UCSB API Developer Portal. It looks like you signed up the <application name> application for access to some of the Access Approval Required APIs.

If you are developing an application to use those protected APIs, you’ll need to read through the API Access Request Guidance and then request access through an API Access Request Form. For the moment, I’m going to set the <application name> access requests to denied until the access approval process has had a chance to take place.

Please let me know if an Access Request has already been made and I just missed it.
